Pre-Made Burritos from Burrito del Mar
What started
as a true "Mom and Pop" shop by the original founder 14
years ago, Burrito del Mar has grown in popularity but has preserved
it's specialty, small-scale production to this day. Original owner,
Dawn Emming, was married by the sea in Mexico and that easily became
the inspiration for the company name. When Lani Alviar purchased the
company 5 years after it was founded, he preserved the company name
which already had a following and continued on with growing Burrito
del Mar's popularity.
Lani,
originally from the Philippines, did not grow up eating burritos,
laughing as he stated, "They don't exist there." Residing
in the Pacific Northwest and working as a nurse, Lani never dreamed
he would be in the food business. However, after a call from family
in Boulder describing the opportunity, he took a leap of faith and
moved to Boulder to take over Burrito del Mar. So while Lani wasn't
raised eating burritos for lunch and dinner like many of us, he soon
learned he had a knack for the business. In the first few years of
ownership, he nearly tripled the company's production.
Now, many
years and recipes later, Burrito del Mar has 12 flavors. The top
seller is the Vegetarian Green Chili burrito. Other flavors SOURCE
currently carries include Bacon, BBQ Veggie, Black Bean and Cheese,
Chorizo, Vegetarian Green Chili, Pinto Bean, Sausage and Vegetarian.
Each burrito is a hearty 10 ounces and is the perfect
"quick-fix" meal, reheating easily. Lani, when asked his
favorite flavor, struggled to choose just one. Rather he stated that
"they all have their unique tastes.
It depends
on what mood I'm in."
The
convenience of a pre-made burrito from Burrito del Mar does not
compromise quality. Each batch is made fresh weekly, maintaining the
integrity and quality of each burrito. Exclusively manufactured and
sold in Colorado, Lani oversees cooking, production, packaging,
delivering and marketing and now has partnered with SOURCE to
increase distribution. Available for purchase individually, requiring
no set case size, makes the burritos the perfect addition to any
'grab and go' dairy case.
Looking
towards the future and the growing 'gluten free' trend, Burrito del
Mar is developing a gluten free bowl option. Feedback is important to
Lani as he continues to develop new recipes and concoctions to expand
his growing company and meet the needs and requests of his valued
customers!
