What is "SOURCE Shout-Out?"

In an effort to keep our customers connected to a community of high-quality foods straight from the SOURCE, we bring a feature product to the table, to share with you each week.  Whether this is a product that you already carry or something new to consider, this allows us to share the stories behind the sustainable products that we all love and enjoy.  We invite you to share this information among your retail/restaurant teams and with your customers, so that together we can trace the path of where our food is coming from.  Thank you for playing such an integral role in our food system.

May the SOURCE be with YOU!

Chocolate bars

by Chocolove

Over 13,000 chocolate bars -- that's how many bars Chocolove founder, Timothy Moley has consumed with his two-bar-a-day habit over the past 18 years since he has been in business. Impressive! We challenge you all to try it! OR at least share Chocolove with your customers.

To this day Chocolove is still produced right in Boulder, CO.  Chocolove was however first inspired by travel through Indonesia. During this time overseas, Timothy exposed his palate to exotic spices, teas, wines and, of course, cocoa beans. Destined to be his own boss, upon returning to the states, he began his chocolate education. All-natural ingredients combined with classic techniques of Europe's finest chocolate process, resulted in the birth of Chocolove, all wrapped up and packaged as a love letter.

Today, Chocolove offers us 24 delectable flavors in both full size bars (3.2 oz) and mini bars (1.3 oz). The unbelievably smooth texture is pleasantly accented by complimentary notes of ingredients such as salted almonds, currants, dried raspberries and orange peel. Inside each wrapper, you won't find a golden ticket, but you will find a touch of romanticism through a printed poem.

Three Chocolove flavors are organically grown and are Fair Trade. The remaining flavors are made with love from ethical and socially responsible sources including cocoa beans from the Growing Great Chocolate (GGC) program. Led by Barry Callebaut, GGC supports small growers throughout West Africa teaching cultivation methods that help to strengthen community and maximize crop yield.

From farmer to consumer, there are 8 steps in the supply chain of Chocolove. Chocolove is just four steps removed from the farmers who produce the cocoa beans in each incredible chocolate bar. As a distributor of this great product, SOURCE Local Foods is just five steps removed from great growers around the world. Stock your retail shelves now, in anticipation of the Valentine's Day holiday, but beware, it may become a romantic affair!
